And fuck everyone commenting on how “this is written so respectfully and isn’t offensive” when he’s stating that any trans person who doesn’t hate reading about transness being a thing that exists is just “going through a phase.”
Yes, trans Dave fics are sometimes fetishistic or offensive, but guess what, a number of them are written by trans guys, and not the sort who are “dressing up as boys for fun.” It’s understandable that you’d be uncomfortable being seen as something Other, but some people think of being trans as a significant part of their life as a coping mechanism, and that isn’t any less fucking valid than wanting to be seen as man rather than as a trans man.
It’s fine being uncomfortable about something you have a personal stake in, especially when there are legitimately creepy aspects of it out there, but DON’T FUCKING ACT LIKE ANYONE NOT SIMILARLY UNCOMFORTABLE MUST BE A LYING ROLEPLAYING GIRL.And no, I won’t say “you’re the fake!!!” because, unlike you, I don’t feel the need to invalidate others’ gender identities to get my point across.
Of course, there’s the chance that this is just a troll post, considering he uses “trans” as a noun when I’ve never seen that actually done by trans people, and Tumblr’s trans community is notoriously easy to troll. If so, good job, OP. You rustled my jimmies. But anyone who agreed with this post without posting even a tiny disclaimer about the OP’s disbelief of certain fans’ trans status is a horrible person and I feel no guilt in saying so.
